Neon nights, canyon days and the best bites off the Strip
Three days that balance Strip spectacle with real adventure: a Red Rock Canyon hike, a Hoover Dam and desert day, and a Grand Canyon helicopter option for the bold. Evenings are built around Las Vegas's strengths: a big-ticket show, a craft-cocktail crawl in the Arts District and Fremont Street's neon chaos. Food leans toward places locals rate, from Chinatown noodle bars to a proper steakhouse splurge.

Weather
Las Vegas is hot and dry. Summer highs run 100-110F (38-43C), so outdoor adventures must happen at dawn. Winter days sit around 55-60F with chilly nights. The best seasons are spring (March to May) and fall (late September to November), when days are 70-85F, which is ideal for hiking and pool time.
Arriving
Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) is only 10-20 minutes from the Strip. A rideshare (Uber or Lyft) from the designated garage pickup zones costs about $20-30 to mid-Strip hotels. Taxis are metered at about $25-35 and must not take the tunnel 'long haul' route unless you ask; confirm the route first. RTC's Centennial Express (CX) bus costs $6 for a 2-hour pass and is fine if you travel light. Renting a car at the airport's Rent-A-Car Center is worth it for Red Rock day, but expect resort parking fees of $18-25 per day.

Center Strip (Bellagio, Cosmopolitan, Caesars, The LINQ)
Morning
Arrive, drop bags and brunch at Eggslut
Ease into jet lag with a late breakfast at Eggslut inside The Cosmopolitan. The Fairfax sandwich and the Slut (coddled egg on potato puree) are the classics. Lines are shortest before 10am, and most hotels will hold luggage until the 3-4pm check-in.
Afternoon
Bellagio Conservatory and Center Strip stroll
Walk through the free Bellagio Conservatory, which is re-themed seasonally with huge floral installations, then wander the indoor-outdoor path past Caesars Forum Shops to the LINQ Promenade. If the heat allows, ride the High Roller at dusk for the best Strip panorama. The happy hour cabin includes an open bar for 30 minutes.
Evening
Bellagio Fountains, then Chandelier Bar and Ghost Donkey
Catch the Bellagio Fountains show, which runs every 15 minutes after 8pm, from the front railing. Then head into The Cosmopolitan for cocktails at the three-story Chandelier Bar; ask for the off-menu Verbena, which has a Szechuan button flower garnish. Finish at Ghost Donkey, a hidden mezcal bar tucked behind a door in the Block 16 food hall.
Red Rock Canyon, Spring Mountain Road Chinatown, Center Strip
Morning
Sunrise hike at Red Rock Canyon
Drive 25 minutes west to Red Rock Canyon and take the 13-mile Scenic Drive. Timed-entry reservations ($2 on recreation.gov) are required October to May, from 8am to 5pm, plus a $20 per car entry fee. Hike Calico Tanks (2.5 miles round trip) for scrambling over red sandstone to a hidden water pocket with a distant Strip view. Bring at least 2 liters of water each.
Afternoon
Pool reset and Chinatown lunch
Stop on Spring Mountain Road for a late lunch, then return to the hotel pool to recover from the morning heat. In Chinatown, Sparrow + Wolf is a local favorite for creative small plates, while Monta Ramen offers quick, excellent tonkotsu. Pick based on your appetite.
Evening
Cirque du Soleil 'O' at Bellagio
The water-based 'O' is still the most jaw-dropping show in town, with acrobats diving into a 1.5-million-gallon pool. Mid-tier seats in Category B or C give the best value. Book ahead for weekends. Afterward, dance at Omnia or JEWEL at Caesars if you want a big club night; guys should expect higher covers and enforced dress codes.
Hoover Dam or Grand Canyon West, Downtown, Arts District
Morning
Grand Canyon West helicopter or Hoover Dam
For the ultimate adventure, take a helicopter tour that flies over Hoover Dam and Lake Mead and lands on the canyon floor for a champagne toast. Most tours include hotel pickup and wrap by early afternoon. For a budget alternative, drive 40 minutes to Hoover Dam and walk the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge.
Afternoon
Arts District coffee and vintage crawl
Recharge at Vesta Coffee Roasters, then browse the 18b Arts District's vintage shops and murals along Main Street, such as Retro Vegas and Antique Alley. Stop at the Neon Museum's Boneyard if you can grab an afternoon slot. Its restored casino signs are best seen on the guided tour.
Evening
Fremont Street and East Fremont bars
Have dinner downtown, then watch the Viva Vision canopy light show, which runs hourly from 6pm. Zip down the SlotZilla zipline right over the crowds. Walk east to Fremont East for craft cocktails at Herbs and Rye's sister spot, or for Atomic Liquors, the city's oldest freestanding bar, and Commonwealth's hidden rooftop speakeasy, The Laundry Room, which takes text reservations.

Book ahead
Skip-the-line tickets and tours that genuinely improve the trip — the ones that sell out are flagged.
Fly over Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, then land 3,200 feet below the rim for a champagne picnic, all in a half day with hotel pickup.
Vegas's signature aquatic spectacle. Booking ahead secures center seats at better prices than the box office.
Let a guide handle transport and timed entry while you ride or hike the 13-mile Scenic Drive past glowing sandstone cliffs.
Skip the reservation juggling and taste signature dishes at several top Strip restaurants in one evening, with priority seating.
Hear the stories behind more than 250 restored casino signs. Evening tours show off the illuminated pieces and sell out fast.
Planning several sights?
One Go City pass covers many of Las Vegas's top attractions and tours. If you're visiting three or more paid sights, it often costs less than buying tickets one by one.
Travel essentials
International visitors face steep US roaming charges; an eSIM keeps maps, Uber and Lyft, rideGO and digital show tickets working, and hotel Wi-Fi often requires a fee.
US healthcare is extremely expensive, and heat exhaustion, hiking falls or zipline injuries can mean big bills. Cover also helps with flight delays at busy Harry Reid Airport and theft of phones or wallets in crowded casinos.

Smart saving
Stay Sunday to Thursday: Strip room rates often drop by half compared with Friday and Saturday, and show and club tickets are cheaper midweek too.
Good to know
Estimates exclude flights. Hotel prices move with demand — booking 4–8 weeks ahead usually gets the best rates in central areas.
Local know-how
Budget for resort fees
Almost every Strip hotel adds a mandatory resort fee of $40-55 per night plus tax, usually not shown in headline prices. Compare total prices before booking.
Know the tipping norms
Tip 18-22% at restaurants, $1-2 per drink at bars, and $3-5 per night for housekeeping. Cocktail servers on the casino floor expect a tip for free drinks while you play.
Use the Deuce and the monorail
The Deuce bus runs 24/7 along the Strip to Downtown, with a 24-hour pass for about $8 on the rideGO app. The Las Vegas Monorail is faster for the east side of the Strip; distances between resorts are longer than they look.
Find the rideshare zones
Uber and Lyft pickups happen at designated rideshare areas, often in parking garages, so follow the signs and allow ten minutes. At the airport, follow signs to the parking garage level, not the taxi rank.
Pick your season wisely
Summer regularly hits 105-115F (40-46C), while winter nights drop near freezing. March to May and late September to November bring warm days in the 70s-80s F, ideal for pools and hiking.
Reserve Red Rock and clubs ahead
Red Rock Canyon's scenic drive requires a timed-entry reservation from October to May via recreation.gov. For clubs, book guest list or tables ahead on weekends, and agree on all prices with promoters in writing.
Ignore street hustlers
Skip costumed characters charging for photos, CD sellers on the bridges and timeshare pitches disguised as free show tickets. Keep phones and wallets secure on crowded pedestrian bridges and Fremont Street.
